Top 10 Women Making Headway in the Food Allergy and Celiac Space

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the achievements of women across all industries. In the food allergy and celiac space, women have made incredible strides in advocacy, research, and innovation. Today, we honor the top 10 women who are leading the way in this field.

  1. Betsy Craig – Betsy Craig is a leading expert in food allergy training and education. She is the CEO of MenuTrinfo, a company that provides allergen and nutritional information to restaurants and food service operators. Craig has dedicated her career to ensuring that individuals with food allergies can dine out safely.

  2. Tamara Hubbard – Tamara Hubbard is a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Food Allergy Counselor, a company that provides counseling and support to individuals and families affected by food allergies. Hubbard is also an advocate for food allergy awareness and education.

  3. Dr. Ruchi Gupta – Dr. Ruchi Gupta is a pediatrician and an expert in food allergies. She is the Director of the Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research at Northwestern University, where she works to understand the prevalence of food allergies and how to prevent them.

  4. Sung Poblete – Sung Poblete is the CEO of Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life and health of individuals with food allergies. Poblete is a strong advocate for food allergy awareness and education.

  5. Jenny Levine Finke – Jenny Levine Finke is a writer and advocates for individuals with celiac disease. She is the founder of Good For You Gluten Free, a website that provides resources and information for those living with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. She also is a certified integrative nutrition coach and the author of “Dear Gluten, It’s Not Me, It’s You”.

  6. Alice Bast – Alice Bast is the CEO of Beyond Celiac, a non-profit organization that seeks to find a cure for celiac disease and improve the lives of those affected by it. Bast is a strong advocate for celiac disease research and awareness.

  7. Amanda Orlando – Amanda Orlando is a chef and food blogger who specializes in creating recipes for individuals with food allergies and dietary restrictions. Her website, Everyday Allergen-Free, provides resources and recipes for those with food allergies and intolerances. She wrote her own cookbook, “The Easy Allergy Free Cookbook” and is hosting her first food allergy wellness retreat called Free To Be.

  8. Jennifer Peters – Jennifer Peters is the founder of Just BE Kitchen, a restaurant in Denver, Colorado that specializes in serving food that is gluten-free, grain-free, and dairy-free. Peters is dedicated to providing safe and delicious food for individuals with food allergies and intolerances.

  9. Priscilla Munoz is an advocate for food allergy safety in schools and the driving force behind The Zacky Bill. The bill, named after Munoz’s son Zacky, who has multiple food allergies, requires schools in California to implement food allergy management plans and provide resources and training to staff. Munoz fought tirelessly for the bill, which was signed into law in 2018.

  10. Kayla King – Kayla King is the CEO of MyMeal, an app that helps people with food restrictions find safe restaurant meals. Her own experiences with celiac disease drove her to create a safe space for people to dine out stress-free. She works closely with restaurants to help improve their ability to cater to those with food restrictions.

On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible accomplishments of these women in the food allergy and celiac space. Their dedication and passion for improving the lives of individuals with food allergies and celiac disease inspire us all.

Kayla King was diagnosed with Celiac disease at 9 years old. She is a certified nutrition coach and has worked in restaurants as a server and manager. She is the CEO of MyMeal, an app dedicated to bringing trustworthy information about restaurant’s menu items to people with food allergies.
