The 10 Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Denver – 2023

by Kayla King

I have traveled all over the US and can say with confidence that Denver is one of the best cities to find gluten free food. From donuts, fish n chips, churros, burritos, and more, you can find an equal match for pretty much any gluten containing dish you desire. This information comes directly from the MyMeal app where you can find safe restaurant meals for your food restrictions.

1. Just Be Kitchen

Just BE Kitchen is a 100% gluten-free restaurant that offers a variety of dishes made with wholesome and paleo ingredients. From breakfast to dinner, they offer dishes like gluten-free burritos, biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings, beer and bottomless mimosas. They have a filterable allergy menu in store made by MyMeal and make it a point to train their staff on a variety of allergens and diets.

2. Vital Root

Vital Root is a health-focused restaurant that is 100% gluten – free and 99% vegan. It’s a great place for those with multiple food restrictions. My favorite is their yucca fries and falafel wrap. They are part of the Edible Beats restaurant group. All of their restaurants are extremely well trained on cross contact and are known in Denver to be extremely accommodating for both Celiac and Food Allergies. Some of their other restaurants are Root Down and Linger.

3. Whole Sol

Whole Sol is a 100% gluten-free and organic café that offers smoothies, toasts, hot bowls, and fresh juice. They also have a range of coffee drinks, including lattes and cappuccinos. This is the perfect place to grab a quick bite in the morning. Their menu is simple, nourishing, and healthy.

4. Illegal Pete’s

Illegal Pete’s is a Mexican-inspired restaurant similar to Chipotle, serving tacos, burritos, and bowls. The staff is always super nice about changing their gloves and their chips are in a dedicated GF fryer. They make celiac safe quesadillas and have a bar inside the restaurant making it such a cool vibe.

5. Acova

Acova is a gluten free mecca. One of the owners has celiac disease and made it a point to have yummy and accessible options for celiacs. They have gluten free bread, fried chicken, fish n chips, chicken & waffles and more. They also have a sister restaurant called The Hornet that is equally great with food allergies / celiac. Both restaurants have a filterable allergy menu made by MyMeal accessible for you in store.

6. Denver Poke Company

Denver Poke Company is a Hawaiian-inspired restaurant that just happens to be 100% gluten free. You can rest assured that your poke bowl is safe as they nima test (gluten detection device) every new ingredient they bring in store. It’s right by confluence park as well. A great lunch to take to the park and relax.

7. La Chiva

La Chiva is a Colombian-inspired restaurant in the South of Denver. A majority of their menu is naturally gluten free making it a great option for celiacs. They have the most amazing meat boards. As a meat lover this place was a heaven for me.

8. Postino

Postino is a wine bar that offers a variety of gluten-free options, including gluten-free bruschetta’s, salads, and paninis. I always go to the Broadway location because the staff there is so amazing with my celiac. They even put tinfoil down as a separator in the panini press. Since they are a medium sized chain they have multiple locations across the US making this a great restaurant to have in your back pocket.

9. Hopdoddy

Hopdoddy is a medium sized chain serving gourmet burgers on a homemade gluten free bun. Their fryer is dedicated gluten free and if you’re vegan they also do a homemade vegan patty. The corporate staff there has tons of food restrictions themselves sparking them to create these kinds of accessible offerings.

10. FOR[A]GED

FOR[A]GED is a farm-to-table restaurant that offers Japanese fare. They don’t use soy sauce at all, only serving food with Tamari. Amazing, right? The chef there is so passionate about accessibility and takes food allergies / celiac very seriously. It’s my go to sushi spot, especially during happy hour.
